Born and raised in rural northern Nevada, Hannah Branch started her organizing career as a teenager. She is the founder of the Reno Alliance for Free Tutoring, a youth-led organization that engages high school and college student volunteers in providing cost-free academic support to at-risk youth in Northern Nevada. She was also a core leader of Washoe County Students for Change, a youth-led advocacy group that empowered student voices in state and district policymaking to fight for antiracism and LGBT+ equity in the classroom.
Hannah is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where she earned her B.A. in Political Science with honors and contributed to research on political jargon and communication theory. She was the first UNR student to earn a minor in debate and won national championships in both IPDA debate and impromptu speaking. She has worked as an organizer, speechwriter, scheduler, and debate coach on multiple political campaigns, and spent a year as an associate lobbyist at the state level.
Hannah is passionate about organizing as a creative tool for empowering and connecting communities. When she’s not working, Hannah enjoys poetry, thrifting, running, photography, and playing guitar.
