Emerging Leaders

Derrica Daniel joined the ACLU of Nevada in 2023 as the Outreach Coordinator Intern and President of the Emerging Leaders. She is now the Community Organizer for Las Vegas and Director of the Emerging Leaders where she leads all initiatives and strategies for the youth program. She is a well-known youth advocate throughout Nevada and is primarily focused on strategizing and developing programs to educate and provide opportunities/ resources to youth across Nevada.

Derrica serves as an executive board member for seven different task forces across Nevada including the Secretary of State Youth Democracy Taskforce, Juvenile Justice Oversight Commission, My Brothers Keepers Youth Taskforce, Silver State Equality Youth Taskforce, T.U.L.I.P.S Board of Directors, NAACP Las Vegas, and ACLU of Nevada Emerging Leaders. Derrica has always been deeply driven by the youth in her community and has helped coordinate some of the biggest staple youth events in Las Vegas over the past few years.

As she continues her education journey, Derrica hopes to attend Howard University in the fall of 2025 as an undergraduate to pursue political science and law. She is a community leader on the frontline of many issues surrounding youth in Las Vegas and says that adversity doesn't bother her, matter of fact it fuels her. She feels unstoppable and capable of everything and anything.

Jacqueline Combs is a senior in high school and serves as the President of ACLU of Nevada's Emerging Leaders. She is a professional dancer who trains in all styles and has performed all over Las Vegas, including for the T-Mobile Arena and NBA G League, and has choreographed for Judge Belinda T. Harris in the Annual MLK Parade. Jacqueline plans to attend Howard University and eventually obtain her doctorate to become a professor in fine arts of dance. She is heavily involved in her community and serves as Co-president of Del Sol Academy’s Black Student Union  and is a proud youth NAACP member. Despite her schedule, she maintains her academic status in the top 3% of her class and is dedicated, focused, and passionate.

Kash was born and raised in Las Vegas and currently attends Cheyenne High School, where she serves as the President of the Black Student Union. In 2021, she joined the Archonettes, a youth auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and also joined the nonprofit organization Teaching and Uniting Ladies to Inspire Positive Success (T.U.L.I.P.S.). She considers these two organizations as the foundation of her current personal and community achievements.

Kash was selected to be the NAACP Youth Council President in 2022 and currently serves on numerous community-based executive boards at the age of 17. She has a strong passion for giving back to her community and advancing equality and is also very strongly passionate about equal education.

In her free time, she enjoys doing community service and being actively involved in her community. Williams has accumulated over 200 community service hours and plans to keep doing work to further her community. After high school, Kash plans to serve in the U.S. Army and one day start her own nonprofit organization to help advocate for and serve the less fortunate community.

Raised in Las Vegas, Israel Hernandez (known as “Izzy”) is a multifaceted community leader, speaker, and change-maker. After graduating from Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy (VTCTA) in 2021, Izzy found his passion in uplifting marginalized groups, particularly Black and Brown communities across Las Vegas. Over the past year, Izzy has spearheaded numerous impactful community initiatives, from leading educational workshops focused on identity and self-awareness to actively participating in protests for social justice reform. He has collaborated with local organizations on projects providing vital resources to underserved neighborhoods and mentoring at-risk youth. Izzy is also deeply involved in mental health advocacy, spiritual enlightenment, and facilitating personal growth workshops. Driven by a clear vision and passion, Izzy continues to bring his vibrant spirit towards unifying and empowering communities across Las Vegas. He strives to amplify voices, address systemic inequality through grassroots efforts, and support holistic community development. With over a dozen collaborative projects executed, Izzy has emerged as an inspirational leader and catalyst for revolutionary change.

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Anwar also spent some of his time in Fresno, California, graduating from Washington Union High School in early 2020. He has firefighter, EMS, CPR, and IT certificates, and is enrolled in the Cyber Security program at the College of Southern Nevada. Allums is also a member of the NAACP's Young Adult and Political Action Committees and has done work for the City of Las Vegas and the College of Southern Nevada.

He participates in the community by volunteering at events, going to city council meetings, and registering voters and participates in a number of organizations, including Black People Hike Las Vegas, The Men's Room, and The Change Up. Allums’ main mission is to empower the youth and change the world, which starts with the community. Allums enjoys watching movies, going on hikes, playing video games, writing music, and creating art.
