Danielle was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to Las Vegas in 2021. She graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Classics. While at Berkeley, she served as a team leader for Jumpstart, an Americorps program that pairs college students with preschool programs in under-resourced communities to help ensure that every child enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. After seeing the impact this work can have, Danielle decided to pursue a career as a preschool teacher. After several years of teaching, she started volunteering in the L.A. County jail system and discovered a passion for working with incarcerated people. This experience inspired her to change course and become a social worker. She is a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, earning dual degrees in law and social work. She started at the ACLU of Nevada in 2023 as a legal extern, supporting the affiliate’s work in the 2023 legislative session. This ignited a passion for public policy work and led to her current role as a social work practicum student focused on local policy issues.
