The Washoe County Commission is considering a voter suppression resolution at Tuesday’s meeting. As attacks on Nevadans’ freedom to vote continue to pop up, as they did in Lander and Nye counties, it’s time for everyone who cares about voting rights to join the fight.

Earlier this month, the Washoe County Commission announced that they will hear Commissioner Jeanne Herman’s proposal, which includes deploying National Guards to election sites and ballot drop boxes to intimidate voters, providing only one electronic voting machine per polling site, and singling out people whose same day registration with different provisional ballots, and more.

This will create accessibility issues for Washoe County voters and impose a larger burden on election officials, both of which are visible acts of voter suppression.

The Washoe County Commission has zero legal authority to pass several of the provisions presented in this outrageous proposal. It is unnecessary and imposes a serious threat to voter accessibility and only amplifies the dangers of voter suppression and disinformation.

Don’t let them silence your voice! Here’s how you can help.
